Window Shape: 5 (gothic arched, 2 vertical sections)
Subject/Title of Window: Temptation and Baptism of Jesus
Brief Description of Subject:
On the left, the serpent is the symbol of temptation. The tree symbolizes the Tree of Life, while the serpent twined around the tree represents the closeness of temptation to life. On the right, are two figures, book, and a dove. The book represents the law and the descending dove represents the Holy Spirit. These two symbols appear frequently in Christian Art. This window represents the baptism of Jesus. The book represents the lesson that the Holy Spirit serves as the light of the teacher.
The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
